Lakehill Preschool offers a program based on the philosophy of "Learning Through Play." Play is one of a child's most natural actions; in the safe environment of Lakehill, your children will learn through play to become independent, develop self-control, share with others, gain self-acceptance and self-worth, and develop small and large motor skills.

Our program guides children in developing their social skills in preparation for school. We are a Parent Participation Preschool; this means that not only is the school owned and operated by the parents whose children are attending classes, but you as a parent also have the opportunity to be in the classroom with your child throughout the school year. You'll get a first-hand opportunity to watch your child develop socially, artistically and imaginatively.

For the 2010-2011 school year, Lakehill Preschool introduced different levels of participation to try and help accommodate the busy lives of parents and allow for various levels of commitment within the preschool. Families in all levels of participation must fully participate in fundraising efforts. Fundraising is an important part of the preschool and embodies the spirit of a co-operative preschool.

Here are the descriptions of the different participation levels we offer:

Full Participation

Full participation families will do a duty day in the classroom approximately once every 3 weeks. This is a wonderful opportunity for caregivers to connect with the children in their child’s class. Families are required to attend a monthly meeting from 7-9pm the first hour of the meeting will be a parent education speaker, the second hour is the business portion of the meeting, do a job within the school, help with a school clean once a year and actively participate in all fundraising activities.

Tuesday / Thursday - $85 per month
Monday / Wednesday / Friday - $122 per month

Partial Participation

Partial participation families are not required to do duty days in the classroom. As you will be a voting member of the co-op you are required to attend the business portion of the monthly meetings from 8-9pm, and are welcome to attend the parent education portion of the meetings as well. Partial participation families are also required to do a job within the school, help with a school clean once a year and actively participate in all fundraising activities.

Tuesday / Thursday - $120 per month
Monday / Wednesday / Friday - $162 per month

Limited Participation

Limited participation is for families who do not have a lot of spare time to offer, but still want to be actively involved in their child’s preschool environment. Duty days, meetings and a school job are encouraged but are not mandatory. Limited participation families are expected to actively participate in all fundraising activities.

Monday / Wednesday / Friday - $177 per month
